About FATUM

Founded in Tokyo in 2015. We bring travel and the stories of Japan to the world through film.

Named after the Latin word for fate, FATUM captures the encounters that happen on the road and in a place — and turns them into films people remember. From location shoots in Japan and overseas to TV commercials, travel films, music videos and social video, our founder Shori Amano directs, shoots and edits as one team, for clients across travel, aviation, retail, media and music.

Our history reads less like a timeline and more like a chain of encounters.

CHAPTER 01
Learning on set
Shori Amano trained as an assistant director under Takashi Shimizu and Kazuaki Kiriya, learning the craft on commercials, music videos and short dramas.
CHAPTER 02
Into travel and advertising
Major travel companies and an airline began trusting FATUM with TV commercials and travel films — taking our cameras to Hawaii, California, Spain, Taiwan and Australia.
CHAPTER 03
Japan’s stories, for the world
A travel series on Japan’s shrines and temples, the short period drama “Reimei Samurai”, and the voice of Ryojun Shionuma of Jigenji Temple. Today we carry stories Japan has kept for generations to the world, in both horizontal and vertical formats.
